STATE MEET!!
Friday (21st): This is where it gets crazy, so read carefully! First of all, you all will be excused from school on Friday the 21st. We will have a big team breakfast at Weck's on Paseo at 9:30 AM. Last year, we sat around for 30 minutes waiting for room to clear out, but it passes quickly and the breakfast is a lot of fun with everyone there.
At 1:30 PM, warm-up for the preliminaries will begin. This means that, after breakfast, you'll have time go home and nap or whatever it is you'd like to do during that downtime. However, everyone must be at Academy NO LATER THAN 12:45 PM. We have a lot to talk about, and I want to make sure everyone is ready to go by the time warm-up begins. Bring HEALTHY snacks and water! We'll be there for a while, and that's much later in the day for a meet than you're used to, so I want everyone to keep their energy up all day long. Something you all should be aware of is that the heat sheet isn't seeded the way you're used to seeing it. For the preliminaries, the seeding is circular, meaning the heats aren't separated by times. Instead, swimmers in the top three heats get the chance to swim against the fastest swimmers.  Finally, should we have the time, I'd like to cool down as a team afterwards. And that'll be the end of day 1 of State!

Meet starts at 3:00 but seating is crowded. Plan to arrive early to get a seat but note that seat saving is not allowed and items will be removed. Admission is $10/adults, $5/student and seniors.

Saturday (22nd): State finals! Warm-up Begins at 9:30 AM, so everyone should be there NO LATER THAN 9:00 AM. This day will be outrageously long, so plan accordingly. Bring loads of healthy snacks, water, and whatever you'll need to make it through a long day. The awards for the Finals are done a bit differently than any other meet - medals are handed out in pairs of events, meaning we'll swim two events, and then ceremoniously hand out medals to the top 8 finalists in those two events. Diving finals are also in the middle of the meet. So with 24 events, with long breaks for awards every other event, you can see how it can get tedious. Finally, when all of that is over, they'll present final awards (which we'll hopefully be apart of!) and then you can go home and sleep for as long as you want!

Meet starts at 11:30, parade of captains including our boys carrying the flag as prior year champions, begins at 11:10.

PRACTICES
Swim practices always run 4:30-6:00pm this season unless otherwise stated. We'll have practice Monday - Friday every day, except for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Parents, please be outside and ready to pick your kids up by the time we're out of practice.
