Coach Vince Sanchez Remembered
June 21, 1976 - April 17, 2018
After swimming for La Cueva while in high school, Coach Vince returned to coach for 19 years. He truly shaped our community not only by leading the bears to many metro, district, and state championships but also setting a high standard for working hard and doing your best. He knew how to coach the whole swimmer and how to talk to each student in a way that suited them best. Coach Vince was a master multitasker and could see everything. Even if you were talking to him he’d be watching someone in the water - and would get their time.
Coach Vince is missed immensely not only by La Cueva but by all of the swimming community. He was instrumental in running all of the large APS meets, helped others with the meet software, assisted with the high school schedule, coached in the summer for Sundance teams, and much more he humbly never took credit for.
